the voyeur- Edward Hopper

Although painting both rural settings and urban ones, my favorite works of Hopper are in the city. He lived in the west village just few blocks from where I was born. The area is very special to me. It's interesting to see how the streetscapes have changed. Hopper's paintings have a very voyeuristic quality to them. Many of the pictures are drawn looking into or out of windows. In addition, there is sense of isolationism. Even when there are two people in a painting they appear to be in two different worlds. Take a look and enjoy!
